Cedric Stuart Hutchison II was born on August 11, 1991, in Dallas, Texas to Cedric and Patty Hutchison, the youngest of three children – their first and only son. He was an extraordinary child – adventurous, creative, passionate about the arts, and a genuine thrill seeker. Cedric accepted Christ at a young age and under the blessing of Reverend Benjamin Lang was baptized when he was six years old.
Cedric grew up in Marietta, Georgia and attended school in Cobb County. He excelled in everything he touched from academics to sports, holding leadership positions inside and outside of the classroom including class secretary and yearbook editor. It was also in high school that he began mentoring youth through an organization he founded. He graduated from Campbell High School (CHS) in 2009 as Mr. CHS and was recognized as Best Dressed in his senior class.
Cedric attended Morehouse College before transferring to Georgia State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Film & Video with a minor in Urban Education. He loved to travel and took many trips with friends and family during his college years. Cedric had dreams of creating films that provoked thoughtful dialogue about people and cultures that were inspired by his experiences.
In 2016, Cedric moved to Beijing, China, combining his interests in education and travel to teach English abroad and explore new cultures. Beijing was the first of many formal and informal teaching opportunities; he later taught adolescents and young adults in Prague and Malaysia. During his nearly three years abroad, Cedric visited over 30 countries and encouraged countless people, through social media, to expand their horizons with travel and adventure. He was proud of his accomplishments, the most recent being the CedintheCity Scholarship he created after being disheartened by the lack of diversity he saw when working and traveling aboard. He was also proud of his growing Roaming Republic travel company, which he co-founded to foster group travel experiences around the globe.
Cedric was loved immensely and never met a stranger. He was a true wanderlust and found purpose in connecting people and motivating them to live boldly. He lived life to the fullest and his legacy reached places beyond even his wildest dreams.
